School Library

The library is a bright and airy part of the school. With over 5000 books in stock the pupils have a wide range of books to chose from. There are also 10 computers that children can use for homework. Pupils can visit outside of lessons at break and lunchtimes, and Mrs Stokes (School Librarian) is available to help, as are a team of willing lunchtime Library Monitors.

Displays in the library are constantly updated as are the books, so there are always different things for pupils to look at or new books to chose from. A ‘What’s On’ board showcases events, and Mrs Stokes can help pupils to find out what is available for pupils to see and do in the local area.  You can also find information on services and activities for the whole family at www.newcastlefis.org.uk (click on the Young People’s Zone), or for young people aged 13 to 19 go to the ‘Plings’ website at www.placestogothingstodo.co.uk and click on the area you would like to find out about.

A book loving ‘Bibliomaniacs’ group meets every Friday Lunchtime (in the library), to take part in book themed activities, or simply enjoy reading. Also, once a month a ‘Reading Group’ meets to discuss a particular book and enjoy book and reading themed activities.

The current themed displays are ‘World Book Day’ and ‘Local History’.

The author of the month for April is Eoin Colfer.
